While in London at the end of 2017, I met up with my old friend Alex Gordon-Brander to talk Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrency—we had an awesome conversation where we explored the blockchain and, most importantly, how people who are new to the space can start getting involved.
Alex has had an illustrious career on Wall Street, including writing trading algorithms at Ray Dalio's Bridgewater Associates hedge fund. Alex is now the CEO of Omega. One, a decentralized, automated trade execution platform. Just like Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are decentralized money, Omega. One is actually a cryptocurrency exchange that itself runs on the blockchain—a revolutionary idea.
More about Alex from Omega.One:
Alex is one of the world’s leading designers of trading platforms, with a patent on the MarketAxess bond trading platform ($2 trillion traded to date). After MarketAxess, Alex managed portfolio construction applications and wrote the specifications for algorithmic trading at Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund. He’s been designing alternative currency systems and financial markets since before the Bitcoin white paper.
This was an incredible interview, and is a must-watch if you're just getting into blockchain and cryptocurrency, as it covers lots of the basics you need to know to get started, including—crucially—the right mindset to adopt when you're playing in the space.
